Contemporary global and national statistics compiled by the UN. The site  resents statistics on energy, education, finance, agriculture, crime, environment, health, demographics, industry, migration, tourism, trade.

UN Conference statistics on trade and development

Statistics on international trade, investment, economic trends, exchange rates, labour, goods, information and communications technologies, shipping, etc. tatistics are collected and processed by the UN Conference on Trade and Development.

IMF statistics (International Monetary Fund) 

Statistics on all kinds of financial and economic indicators are presented on the IMF website. The information is very conveniently presented in the form of interactive maps, graphs and tables.

WTO statistics

A statistics database for most countries of the world on trade policy, market access, exports and imports, basic infrastructures is available on the WTO website.

World Bank statistics 

More than 2,000 indicators, including hundreds of indicators covering a 50-year period covering virtually all aspects of world development, are contained in the World Bank database.

SIPRI (Stockholm International Peace Research Institute)

Extensive military spending statistics for 170 countries around the world between 1988 and 2010, interactive data on international and regional peacekeeping operations, arms supplies and military equipment manufacturers accessed on the SIPRI website.

CIA Guide to The World Factbook 

Detailed statistics and factual information for all countries of the world is collected on the CIA website. The online version of the handbook contains information on geography, demographics, government, economy, armed forces, telecommunications and the transport system of countries.

Nation Master stats

Often, individual indicators do not make sense on their own. The peculiarity of the site is that along with the ratings of countries on different indicators, it allows to compare online different indices and indicators for any country in the world. The large-scale database of statistics for convenience is divided into categories: “energy,” “democracy,” “migration,” “economy,” “internet,” “political system” and many others. Data for the site are collected from publicly available sources such as the CIA’s World Book, State Census, UN, Navy, World Bank, etc.

Index mundi stats

The website contains economic, demographic, telecommunications, military and transport statistics. The source of the data is mainly the CIA’s guide to the world. The convenient interface allows you to view the ratings of countries online, to compare any four countries on different indicators. The information is presented in maps, graphs and tables.

Interactive map of the world arms trade

The map was created by Google. The map data, which reflects more than a million arms import and export transactions from 1992 to 2010 in 250 countries and territories, was provided by the Oslo Peace Research Institute.

International Energy Agency (IEA) statistics

A database of statistics for the world’s major energy production and consumption, energy research and development costs, CO2 emissions, and an overview of the cost of energy and electricity for industry and private consumers. The data can be viewed online separately for OECD and other countries, or as annual PDF publications. Registration is required to access advanced data and research.

BP statistics

Statistics on the world’s main energy sources – stocks, consumption, reserves and prices. The information is available for download in PDF and MSExcel format.

Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) statistics

Statistics for OECD countries on a large number of indicators. It allows you to view both statistics for individual states and regions within the OECD, member countries as a whole and averages.

Statistics from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC)

Contains data on the global average price of crude oil, the volume of investments of OPEC member countries in the exploration and production of hydrocarbon energy, the amount of taxes levied on mining. In addition, monthly and annual reports on the main indicators of the global hydrocarbon market are published.

North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) statistics

Statistical information on the financial and economic indicators of defence spending for NATO countries and the bloc as a whole and post-Soviet states (absolute/relative amount of defense spending, categories) is available.

United Nations Statistics on Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO)

More than 1000 indicators and data on education, literacy, science and technology, cultural and humanitarian interaction. Statistics are available for more than 200 countries and territories, collected both through Member States and other international organizations.

United Nations Industrial Development Statistics (UNIDO)

Contains data on the main indicators of industrial production, allows to compare both individual countries and groups of countries. The data is available online.

World Health Organization (WHO) statistics

Data on various aspects of health (health costs, life expectancy, mortality, pandemics and common diseases). Tables are available for download in MS Excel format.

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) statistics

Contains statistics on patents and international patent applications (useful models, trademarks, industrial designs, plants and microorganisms), statistics on industrial property.

International Labour Organization (ILO) statistics

It allows access to several databases on various aspects of the labor force, protection of the rights of the working population, distribution of income, standards of organization of labor.

U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Statistics

Databases for the international labour force comparison and economic comparison contain data for 38 countries.

UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) statistics

Daily North Korea databases

South Korean resource dedicated to collecting and analysing information on the processes and events taking place in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. The “database” section presents a collection of statistical databases, analytical articles and other materials on the DPRK.

Statistics from the Center for Strategy and Technology Analysis

This section publishes information on Russian arms and military equipment exports, the Russian defense budget and the state defense order, the main existing contracts for the supply of Russian weapons and military equipment, as well as the economic results of the activities of the largest enterprises of the Russian defense industry.

UN Conventional Arms Register (UN Disarmament Office)

The UN Common Arms Register was established by a decision of the UN General Assembly in December 1991. The organization publishes official world reports on all major sales of conventional weapons (major battle tanks, infantry armoured vehicles, large-caliber artillery, warplanes, attack helicopters, warships and missiles).

The Corruption Perceptions Index, the Bribers Index and the Global Corruption Barometer, calculated by Transparency International, measure the level of corruption at the global and regional levels. The Corruption Perceptions Index is a measure that measures the level of corruption by experts on a scale of 10 points.

Democratic Ratings (Freedom House)

The ratings compiled by Freedom House assess the level of freedom and democracy in the countries of the world.

Bertelsmann Stiftung Foundation Transformation Index

The Transformation Index provides a comparative analysis of the level of democracy and market economy development, the quality of political governance in 128 countries.

Polity IV Project

The Political Policy Index assesses the dynamics of the political regimes of 164 independent states with a population of at least 500,000 people during the time period 1800-2010.

The Heritage Foundation and The Wall Street Journal

The Economic Freedom Index for 183 countries is calculated annually by the Heritage Foundation in conjunction with the Wall Street Journal. The index analyzes 10 key indicators, from property rights to free trade.

Human Development Index (UNDP)

The Human Development Index is a composite index calculated annually by the UN Development Programme. The index measures living standards, literacy, education and life expectancy as the main characteristics of human potential.

Global Peace Index (Institute for Economics and Peace) 

The Global Peace Index characterizes the peacefulness of countries and regions. The index was developed by international experts from the Institute of Peace in conjunction with the University of Sydney’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies.
